Sea containers solar lighting systems are becoming very attractive solution for storage sea containers, especially when the storage sea container is not located close to a building that can provide electricity to the container.
At the same time it's a lot easier to install the sea container solar lighting system than installing regular lighting system as the solar system is contained and does not need any maintenance after installation.
As long as the solar panel get some sun shine or even just day light the 12 volt gel battery get the charge. A fully charged battery is capable of keeping the LED lights on continuously for about 12 hours.

The sea container solar lighting system comes as a kit that is almost complete ( Will explain that in a minute ) and includes two strips of bright LEDs that is water and moisture proof. The two LED strips are enough to light up a 40ft sea container.
If the sea container solar lighting system is to be installed in a 20ft Sea container only one LED strip will be installed in the center of the ceiling, this one strip prove to be mor than enough to light up the container. You can always install the second LED strip but more wiring will be needed.
You can always install the second LED strip on a 20ft container but more wiring and wire routing will be needed which might not be worth the installation time as one strip of LEDs works just fine.
I mentioned earlier that the sea container solar lighting system kit is almost complete and the reason for that is, if the system have to be installed professionally as it should. No wiring should be exposed but the kit does not include anything to cover or hide the electrical wires.
Instead of a battery hanger the sea container solar lighting kit comes with a battery holder that can only be used if the battery is mounted on the floor, which from experience is not the best place to install the 12 volt gel battery.

How easy it is to install the sea container solar lighting system depends on how and where the system is to be installed in terms of where the battery is to be installed.
The very first system we installed we mounted the battery in a hanger as close as possible to the doors as high as possible on the internal wall. The charging controller right next to it and the solar panel right on the top of both on the roof, a three foot electrical conduit form the controller to the On/Off switch and the system was installed. This set up allow us to use a minimal amount of wiring and the whole system was really compact.
If it's a 40ft sea container or a 20 foot sea container we start by building a battery hanger as the battery will be mounted high on the internal wall close to the ceiling which makes it very close to the solar panel on the roof.
On a dry sea container we decided to mount the battery as far as possible inside the sea container instead of close to the doors, just to avoid any future loading and unloading issues.
On a refrigerated or a cold storage sea container we install the battery and the charging controller inside the right space next to the refrigeration unit as it will completely hidden behind a space covering door.
The solar panel get installed using self starter screws and some sealant on the roof as close as possible to the battery, the two wires form the solar panel goes through the roof to the controller.
Two wires from the controller goes inside an electrical conduit on the top right side of the container all the way to the on/off switch by the doors.
Now the double face tape get installed in the center of the roof the full length of the container and the LED strips will get attached to the tape.
Two more wires run through another electrical conduit from the controller to the LED strip, and the sea container solar lighting system is complete.
